As a native of East Harlem in NYC, Enrique Colon discovered his love for music and sports at an early age. He grew up in a household where all things NY sports to include; the Yankees, Knicks, Rangers and Giants, was synonymous with the Colon family name. “Who was I to mess up family tradition”, states Colon. Some of the defining moments of Colon’s life include sports history and legends. Enrique and his two of his brothers attended the 1993 Jim Abbott “NO Hitter” game at Yankee Stadium. He was also present at the 1993 Knicks game when Anthony Mason and Manute Bol almost came to blows. If that’s not enough excitement, Enrique was fortunate to see Derek Jeter getting into a cab with Jorge Posada (who Enrique didn’t even know at the time). He chased the cab down and when it stopped at a red light, Jeter signed Enrique’s Nike town business card.
Professionally, Colon’s music career officially started when he appeared on Yo MTV raps as a pre-teen with Ed Lover and Dr. Dre. He soon gained an interest to DJ from his brother Gil, cousin Rene, and childhood friend Nestor. At the young age of 16 he started performing live at community center church events and high school parties. Enrique’s natural talent and hard work led him into a fortunate career. Under the stage name DJ E.nyce, he releases hundreds of mix-tapes with Lupe Fiasco, Akon, Fabolous, and French Montanta. Additional work includes Tour DJ for Bad Boy Recording artists Black Rob and G-Dep. He has also appeared on BET’s Rap City The Basement with Big Tigger.
Enrique is married to Priscilla Reyes-Colon who he met in the 7th grade and married in 2012, they have two dogs together. When he’s not spinning, he enjoys swimming, reading non-fiction books, and of course watching sports.
